Niel Bowerman

I lead 80,000 Hours, an organisation helping people tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems with their careers.

I also co-founded what is now Effective Ventures Foundation. Some of my writing and talks are here.

In a previous life I was a climate physicist, earning my doctorate at Oxford University. I was also climate science advisor to the Office of the President of the Maldives.

I am currently living in London with my wife Lily. When I’m not working I enjoy exploring, wild swimming, photography, reading sci-fi, and unnecessarily-complicated parties.

I am active on the social media platforms below, though if you want to reach me I respond faster via email.
